May 26 2008:
Elimination rain out

The eliminations started out on Monday morning as planned with the large Pro Modified class running their first round. The crackle of Top Fuel Dragsters was heard while the team rolled Leif's car out of the pits.

Before the Top Fuelers made it down the track, the rain started dropping from the sky and the crackling sound ended, while Leif's car was pushed back in the pits in a hurry.

The whole elimination was rained out and Leif is the Championship leader on the points scored in qualifying plus the ones gained for his low ET 5.72.

May 25 2008:
Qualification rain out

Qualification on Sunday was canceled after an all day rain in England. Leif remains number one qualifier.

Hope stays on rain to stop tomorrow Monday, to allow the eliminations to be run. Leif is paired with Steph Milam for the first run.

May 24 2008:
Santa Pod qualification

Qualification start on Saturday for Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, not at Friday that is the common practice during the other races, since Monday is a bank holiday in England this weekend.

An immediate show of strength was displayed by Andreasson Motorsports when Leif made a repetition of the Thursday test run, without the engine damage.

Leif went down the track on a 5.72 taking the number one qualifier spot ahead of Dan Larsen who ran a 5.99.

The second run of the day was less successful, with a tire shaking pass where Leif lifted the throttle and coasted down the track.

Leif was still number one qualifier with some margin with number 2 qualifier Dan Larsen keeping his position running 5.92. Another 2 runs will be granted for qualifications on Sunrday.

May 22 2008:
Testing in England

On Thursday the day before the Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, Andreasson Motorsports were running tests on the very same track.

A lot of time was spent preparing the racecar properly after the long container journey from the USA.

When finally done with preparation on Thursday afternoon Leif took the car on a nice 5.742 @ 243.77 mph pass down the track. Not all without trouble though. One cylinder dropped at half track when valve train problems put the valves on no: 8 cylinder out of play.

Still a fast run, but as a precaution the whole engine was striped apart, cleaned and inspected with new parts where ever it was needed. All set for qualifications on Saturday.

Test sessions starts
Euro season

The Wednesday press day test sessions, initiating the Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, will be the start of the European season for Andreasson Motorsports this year.

With 2 NHRA events as a starter in the USA this spring, there are still things to sort out with new part and setting on the car and some more runs would certainly be helpful before taking it to qualifications for the Main Event.

April 14 2008:
Business and pleasure

On Monday morning after the races the race car and all the gear was loaded into a container to be sent back to Europe. When done with that the team took a day of and went out on the ocean with Vince Bitetto's daycruiser.

Thank you Nordtrafik and all other companies for all the help making it possible for us to race in the USA.

See you all in England for the Main Event at St Pod.

April 12 2008:
Saturday's qualifiction

Weather stays nice in sunny Las Vegas. Saturday qualification might even be plagued by too high track temperatures, resulting in less grip.

The third and final round of qualification didn't come the way we desired. The engine didn't realy sound right during the burnout and stoped with Leif trying to bump start it with the clutch, in vain it turned out, the ignition was dead. It turned out to be a power supply problem, but the much needed qualification run never came of

Leif ended out of the 16 car field in 21:st place and the team became spectators for the rest of the weekend

The race was eventually won by Jay Payne on Sunday.

The Andreasson Motorsports team was already on their way to Los Angeles to load the container with race car and gear in time to get it back to Europe in time.

April 11 2008:
Friday's Las Vegas action

With nice racing condition in sunny Las Vegas,. Sunshine, not too warm and a bit of wind to cool you down.

The first round of qualification scored a 5.90 @ 245 mph. Looking at the on board computer graphs it indicated more like a 5.75, since the car was crawling forward into deepstage, even putting the prestage lights out, causing the clocks to start timing way earlier.

Second qualification run, was after sunset, the air was cooler and the track as well. This provided for better condition to run fast.

It became a little to aggressive for Leif, the car went on the wheelie bars for quiet a while before shaking tires and heading to the right concrete wall. Leif hit the wall a bit, but was not injured. The car got its headers smashed and scraped some paint and carbon fibre of the body. It can be fixed in time for tomorrows qualifications.

Leif if out of the field after being bumped from 12:th to 20:th place. There are one more qualification run on Saturday, and a chance to get back in the field again.

Truck service at Bitteto's

Thanks to Vince Bitteto and the guys at the garage in Ontario for all the help fixing our towing truck in time for taking the race operation to Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Bitteto tow and service centre in Anaheim and Ontario, can pick you up and help you when your vehicle quit working. Bitteto can also take care of and help you with exports of cars from the USA. It's the right time to buy and import cars from the USA to Sweden, Europe.... since the US dollar is very low in value now.

Check out our galleries under the 2008 option, for images from the USA tour.

April 7 2008:
Preparing in LA

To get the racecar and some other gear up to date and working for the NHRA race in Las Vegas April 11 - 13, the team went in different directions to get things fixed on Monday.

The team focused their efforts on fixing some oil leaks on the engine and a replacing a failing water pump  on the towing truck. Without a towing truck the racecar and all that goes with it, would not make it to the racetrack.

On top of that there's a bunch of other things to take care of to get the car in good shape for racing..

The team expects to be fit for fight in time for the NHRA race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Stay tuned....

April 4 2008:
Going west

After racing at Houston Raceway Park last weekend and staying on site for test runs on Monday and Tuesday. It was time to move west, heading for Los Angeles via El Paso and Phoenix.

At a stop at MSD in El Paso the team was invited to a barbeque and stayed over night before hitting the road again, aiming for LA before Friday night.

The team will stay there over the weekend before moving on to Las Vegas next week getting settled there in time for the NHRA race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

April 2 2008:
SECO visiting

On Saturday visitors from Seco came to watch us race at Houston Raceway Park. We had a good time chatting with each other over some refreshments.

Andreasson Motorsports and SECO of USA has closed a deal, and a meeting at the racetrack was the best thing to do.

We put on some interesting racing action as well, qualifying on a decent time and almost won the first round of elimination.

Thanks for visiting us, it was a pleasure meeting you.

You know where to go

March 29 2008:
Qualified and eliminated

The second day of qualification at Houston Raceway Park moved Leif into a better position in qualifying, from 16:th to 11:th with a 5.753 @ 245.99 mph.

Elimination round one was run later the same day. Leif was to run Mike Ferro who qualified sixth.

The race started with a stagening war from Ferro, making Leif going very deep into the stageing beams. When the lights came on Leif took a lead and kept it at half track, but Ferro caught in on the last half of the track and took a narrow win over Leif with a margin of 8 thousands of a second. Elapsed times was 5.87 to Ferro and 5.88 for Leif

Leif almost made it to the eliminations second round on Sunday. But that day will be spent preparing the car for testing on Monday.

Enjoy the photos below...

Mission complete, the car went down the track in proper order

March 28 2008:
Houston race action

The first day of qualification at Houston Raceway Park was a time to get the car sorted out with the new engine and transmission configuration.

The first mission of the day was to get the car running down the track in a decent way. With a new gear ratio and different clutch settings for that, the car behaved almost right shaking the tires in the first round. Leif had to back of the throttle and cruised to a 7.468 @ 126.61 mph.

Some adjustments had to be done to the clutch to get it right.

The second run was a safe one to get down the track without taking any chances with the engine. The score was a nice smooth run, as expected a bit slow 5.933 @ 238.85 mph. Still good enough for position 16 with Steve Harker leading the field on 5.595 @ 257.33 mph.

Tomorrow is another day when there will be an attempt to better the 5.933 securing a position in the field.

The team lined up ready to start it up.

Going for Texas

Hi again! Sorry about the delay, but sometimes its hard to keep the diary updated whilst on the road.
Last time you heard from us, we where at Brad Anderson ,working on putting the new engines together. We didn't do anything by chance, so it took a little bit longer than planned. We got great support from the guys at BAE who helped us by giving answer to many questions ,and updating us with all the new tricks.

As soon as we were finished at Brads, we hit the road towards Houston. We made it all the way to Phoenix, Arizona the first day of driving  We made sure to get a good night sleep and got up early to hit the road again towards El Paso, Texas 1400 km from LA. Once in El Paso nine hours later, we to met up with our long time friend Joe Pando at  MSD. He was kind enough to take us out for food and drinks and he also showed us a couple of sweet spots in El Paso.

Today it's Sunday and we were invited to Joes house for Easter dinner, with his whole family, we had a good time eating ,drinking and playing all kind of games. Thanks Joe with family for a great evening.

Monday morning, I will have a meeting with people at MSD, and have breakfast with them. Today will hit the road for the next 1300 km, and we will try to get some pictures on the web site.

Will.

Racing delayed

Its Wednesday morning 00:10. I'm sorry that I haven't wrote earlier. We had to wait for the container to be exrated by the US customs, before we received it last Thursday night 8 PM. We unloaded the container in 50 minutes, with help from all the guys at Bitettos Towing. Friday morning, we drove to Brad Anderson and unloaded all engine parts. After that we drove up to Gilroy (7 hrs drive), to Bret Williamson at Eagle One Fabrication, to get the updates on the chassis. Next door to Bret is Paul Murray with his paint shop. (Paul's paint and Custom). Saturday morning we started the chassis and the paint work and today we finished all work.

Thanks Bret and Paul for all the help. It's so cool to spend time with you guys. Tomorrow we are going to see our long time friends, Bob and Sharron Riddle in Grass Valley and take a couple of days off. As you understand, can't we make the race in Gainesville ,Florida. 5000 km one way, it takes to many days of driving to get there. Johnny and Lena left Sweden yesterday, and will join us in Houston, with the rest of the team in the end of march. I will get back with pictures on our mission later this week. Once again, Thanks Farbrer Company in Long Beach for all help with custom clearance and Nord trafik to get the car over the ocean.

See Ya, Leif

September 9 2007:
Elimination day at St Pod

Andreason Motorsports were handed a first round solo run when number 8 qualifier and Leif's opposition didn't come to start due to a broken engine.

The run looked real nice for 300 meters when the supercharger burst plate came out with a bang, it was a decent time 5.941 @ 197 mph on the scoreboard, despite the misshap that showed to be severe. Several broken connecting rods forced another engine change to get ready for the semi final run with Ulf Leanders in the other lane.

With good practice on changing engines from Saturday afternoon, the job was done in one hour, when the car was fired up again ready for another go.

The semi final run was a necessity to win for Leif to get a chance of winning the championship this year. Championship leader Freddy Fagerström was defeated by Dan Larsen  in the other semi final and one more won round would confirm the win. Unfortunately it didn't come that way, Ulf left the starting line slightly ahead of Leif and seemed to keep that distance throughout the race. Even though the runs looked fine, neither scored a good time.

Leif had a 5.70 - 5.75 setup in the car but ran slow 6.038 @ 233.39 mph to Ulf's 5.965 @ 241.85 mph.
The explanation came from a look at the data logger, one cylinder was out of ignition for most of the run and with such a substantial power loss it ran 6.03 instead of predicted 5.73. An ignition wire was found to have been damaged in the previous round engine blow up and failed under power.

The final was won by Dan Larsen, congratulations! The championship stayed with Freddy Fagerström who made a real good season in Urs Erbacher's old car, well done boys! We couldn't catch up on you this time.

September 8 2007:
Second day of qualifying St Pod

Expectations for the first round on Saturday qualification was hitting for a 5.7 second run on a track even better than the one on Friday afternoon, the car was set up in a more aggressive way than yesterday. Ulf Leanders was in the other lane and both left fast and ran into tire shake almost simultaneous.

The track was much better, far more grip on the starting line than ever experienced before. The 0.92 60 foot time for Leif is sensational and tuners Anders Magnusson of team Andreasson and Jörgen Leanders from Leanders bros were both surprised by the grip and had to go back to the pits and figure out another setup for the evening session. Leif coasted to a 9.8142/81.05.

The second qualification run of Saturday was a spectacular revenge for the tire sake run earlier.

This time the car was set up for a real hard launch from a super track and it did really go fast down the track with very good times at 330 and 660 foot 2.498 respectivly 3.729 @ 200.04 mph. Unfortunately the rev limiter kicked in a bit early in second gear, cutting the ignition for 0.4 seconds and the blower drive belt ripped apart at the finish line as well. Did it make any difference? About 0.03 seconds and 5 mph were lost, still it was the time 5.713 @ 245.76 that put Leif in number 1 qualifying position.

Well done! As a precaution, the spare motor was put in the car since the one being run was a bit worn and fresh parts would be a good idea for tomorrows elimination.

September 7 2007:
First day of qualifying St Pod

The deal for Leif and Andreason Motorsports this weekend is to catch up with Fred Fagerström who is 19 points ahead in the championship. The weather is nice with mixed skies an no rain.

First round of qualifications was last pair VS. Fred Fagerström, After a good burnout the throttle adjustment shook lose, leaving Leif with way to high engine revs. Leif could not engage the reverse gear to back up and choose to roll forward to the end of the track, aborting the run.

Freddy is leading the qualifications with 5.853 @ 247.52 mph.

The second qualification run of Friday was a better one. Leif ran 5.820 @ 241.81 mph in the same pairing as Ulf Leanders who set a number one time with 5.811 @ 244.51 mph.

The track conditions are improving and another even harder charge for top times will come for tomorrow.

August 29 2007:

July 29 2007:
Sweet victory at Mantorp

Andreasson Motorsports celebrated a great victory at Mantorp Park last weekend.

Very fast and consistent runs during qualifications and eliminations was the road to success for the weekend. Qualifications started with a by the circumstances fast 5.84 run for number 1 position on Friday, running faster but still dropping one position on Saturday after running with Ulf Leander in the fastest side by side TMFC race ever in Europe. 5.71 for Ulf and 5.73 for Leif, both at 395 km/h.

A great way to finish qualifications, even though tuners of the 2 teams Jörgen and Anders claimed 5.69 and 5.67 would have been even better. A point of disagreement was who would be the faster one.

First round of elimination on Sunday put Leif aside well running FIA rookie Danny Bellio who qualified 7:th. Danny performed well with a 6.15, but not fast enough against Leif who run a steady 5.84.

Semi finals put Leif up against Dan Larsen. It came to a quick end for Dan when his engine died during the burnout and his car was pushed aside giving Leif a solo run. Leif still ran well and consistent scoring 5.82 @ 389 km/h.

he other driver making it to the final, was points leader Fredrik "Fast Freddy" Fagerström who won over Ulf Leanders in the other semi final running a 5.80. All set for drama. A victory was necessary for Leif to get a hold on Freddy in the championship.

Leif left the start line slightly ahead and soon pulled away when Freddy ran into tires hake and problems, forcing him to lift the throttle. A 5.83 by Leif, very consistent indeed.

Great joy and relief in the Andreasson Motorsports team with a well deserved victory and a good shot at the championship, not that many points behind leading Freddy facing the final race at St Pod in England in September.

July 22 2007:
Mantorp Park next weekend

The coming weekend will be home racetrack visit for Andreasson Motorsports. The Veidec Festival at Mantorp Park 26-29 July. This event is extraordinary for the team since sponsors, fans and friends from home country Sweden are coming to see Andreasson and all the other Swedish drivers compete in the only Swedish FIA Championship race.

It's a given thing that you are giving it a little extra at this race and Andreasson Motorsports are going to do all what it takes, going for victory.

To care for all our visitors there will be hospitality facilities on track. We are expecting a large group of visitors from ESAB among our visitors. To find us, aim at the flagpoles with blinking blue lights.... welcome!

July 11 2007:
Going to piteå for next weekend

Andreasson Motorsports
are going to run at the Midnight sun Nationals at Pite Dragway the comming weekend 13-15 July

This is a non championship race and Andreasson Motorsports are going to take part in a TMFC race together with some other Swedish TMFC teams.
The shortage of run during the first 2 events of the season has been hurting car development and the Piteå event is a good opportunity.

July 8 2007:
Truncated race in Finland

Andreasson Motorsports wanted a weekend without rain and delays to get many runs on the car. There had been only one qualification run in England and some racing was needed to get going this season.

The first round of qualification was a pedal fest, Leif had to get of and on the throttle twice suffering from tire shakes before finally giving up at 300 meters. A 6.301 @ 301.50 km/h was the result from the effort.

During the second round of qualification an oil leak on the left side made the car drift quickly to the left from the right lane to the left, crossing the finish line tracing Jörgen Jonsson not scoring any time.

Next day started with some rain and when it stopped, time consuming oil down cleanups reduced the planned 3 qualification runs to only 1. It wasn't a big hit either since battery supply to the ignition system failed after a long and straight burnout, causing the the engine to stop, Leif tried to bump start it again, but nothing happened. No run or improvement of the 6.301 that was good for 7:th place in qualification.

Fredrik Fagerström is number one qualifier with a 5.914 ahead of Dan Larsen scoring a 5.964. Dan will run against Leif in the first round of elimination.

There was doubts if there would be any elimination at all since the rain was falling in the morning, but it halted at 2 PM and the track was dried. Funny Cars was run at 6 PM were Leif defeated Dan Larsen with a 5.886 @ 386.86 km/h to 5.923 @ 396.28 km/h.

Will there be enough time to run the semi finals before the 8 PM curfew? The team worked hard to get things set before running Jörgen Jonsson. Everything came to a halt when the skies opened up again and the track was soaked once more. No more runs and the event was stopped.

Andreasson Motorsports changed their focus and started setting a new speed record in packing everything together and leaving the track for the ferry back to Sweden. The team and the trailer had to go on separate ferries, and made it with no time to spare.

Rain out in England

Andreasson Motorsports did a lot of waiting in the rain this weekend. There was qualification runs on Saturday when the weather was good, but it took an end later in the evening. The rain kept pouring down and the wind gusts didn't make things better.

The qualification wasn't a hit for the team either. The first round was a hit for 1.5 seconds since the car had a fast 60 fot time 0,977, but a combination of the car drifting a bit sideways and broken engine made Leif get of the throttle, coasting to the finish line at 12 seconds. Leif is number nine qualifier and out of the elimination ladder at present.

For the second round the engine didn't fire properly, running on 6 cylinders. The team found the problem, but wasn't allowed by the track marshals to start it up again.

With the rain coming and the forecast promising all day rain for tomorrows qualifications, it leaves Leif out of competition.

The rain continued and stopped all qualifications and for the first time in history Andreasson Motorsports was hoping for all day rain on elimination day, since that would prevent the rest of the field from earning championship points, making it possible for Leif to stay in competition.

The weather stayed rainy just the way the team wanted on elimination day, No runs, no extra points earned and the championship dreams still alive.

Next race will be Alastaro in Finland with new possibilities.

Fastest at Bilsportsmässan

The piston changing competition at Bilsportsmässan in Älvsjö November 25-26. at the ”Live Action Arena” was a great success for Andreasson Motorsports who got their revenge over this years European champions in Top Methanol Funny Car; Leanders Bros in a two session competition, once on Saturday and once more on Sunday.

This prestigious battle of the teams mechanics in the action arena was won by team Andreasson Motorsports.

In the Saturday event Team Andreasson changed one piston and

started up again in 7 min 20 sec, while Team Leanders had problems with jammed nuts an finished at 12 min 40 sec.
Will Team Leanders be problem free and win on Sunday, or will Team Andreasson score another victory? It turned out to be the later option. Even though both teams improved on their yesterday time.

Team Andreasson scored a real fast 6 min 18 sec, a minute faster than Saturday and Team Leanders posted a 9 min 0 sec, shaving almost 4 minutes from yesterday.

A hands down undisputed victory for Team Andreasson, even though Jörgen of Team Leanders with a big smile claimed they finished in a good sporting second place while Team Andreasson were one place from last....

September 11 2006:
Going fast in England - too fast...
Andreasson Motorsports got a 10 points lead over the Leander Bros. in the FIA Championship points standings coming to the FIA finals at St Pod England. The one who wins over the other would be champion.

Leif started with chocking the opposition, running a 5.72 @ 247 mph in the first round of qualification a run that lasted as number one with good margin.

The rest of the qualification was plagued by tricky grip conditions with no one running fast in the Funny Car ranks. Added to that the car mysteriously died at the starting line.

The team first thought it was an ignition problem, but it turned out to be a broken driveshaft inside the supercharger. Problem solved and the car was ready for first round of elimination on Sunday where Leif had a solo run preparing for the semi final

The car responded well to the setup in the first round, it ran 5.76, giving lane choise to Leif over Ulf Leanders in the semi final. The championship was to be settled here, the winner would be champion

Leif had been the fastest this weekend and now he was too fast out of the start and pulled a foul start, red light, leaving his team in horror and despair, the engine also blew up big time at 180 meters due to material fatigue, but still crossed the line at 6.4 seconds. Automatic winner and champion Ulf Leanders broke his gearbox and coasted to the line at 8.5 seconds.

Both cars broken and one red light. A bit of an anticlimax win for the Leander bros. who's been well running hard competitors this season and a disappointment for the Andreasson Motorsports team who proved to be the fastest this weekend.

In any way.... congratulations to the Leander bros. to their first FIA championship, They worked hard for many years to win it.

Andreasson Motorsports announces... We'll be back, Faster than ever. A gigantic leap has been taken this season in reliability and performance and there's no plans slowing down...

September 6 2006:
Going for victory in England
Andreasson Motorsports got a 10 points lead over the Leander Bros. in the FIA Championship points standings. That's a very small margin and there will be a though competition since both teams wants the title badly.

The other team with a chance is Dan Larsen's entry who's 31 points behind Leanders, but it will take mistakes from both Andreasson and Leanders for Larsen to win.  Pritona Racing with Kjell Sjöblom behind the wheel is pretty solid in his 4:th position with too many points missing to the top and no one to catch him in the entered starting field at St Pod Raceway were the finals will be run.

The object for Andreasson Motorsports is of course to win the race and the title running real fast and consistent.

After a number of years without success there's a hunger for title number 4.

On the other hand it's a well known fact that the Leander Bros. are also willing to do all that it takes to win their first title.

We are hoping for a fair and fast race with Leif as the victorious one.

Anders Striger is back

It started with Anders visiting the pits at Mantorp Park for the FIA race in July. He couldn't just watch the pit crew action when being there and jumped in to the action, converting a spectator weekend to a working one.

He continued with Gardermoen one week later and will attend the rest of the season races.
